Training Log

Good practice today.
I anticipated that, since I had worked the IM's hard yesterday, and today being pretty high volume, and being Friday of a tough week, I might crap out somewhere during the main set. When I started on the second 300 my arms felt quite heavy, confirming my fears. However, I felt strong on the next 250 and stronger still as the back side of the main set progressed. In fact, I feel like I broke through some sort of barrier, as I felt stronger, more powerful than I have for a long time. Interesting.
Details follow.
Warmup, a little kicking, drilling. All went well.
Sprints. I worked them really hard, but most felt a bit rough. I think I went fast, but there should be some smoothness to them, too.
Main set, all freestyle.
First half, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 steady pace on :15 rest.
Held to that rest and maintained a sub-1:20 per 100 pace throughout. I worked it hard to maintain that pace right through the 300 with such a short interval.
Back half on 30 seconds rest: Progressively faster with each swim; I worked it very hard since I was feeling so strong.
300: 3:58; 250: 3:18; 200: 2:26; 150: 1:47; 100: 1:06; 50, :31.
Long warmdown.
