This is a test set designed to predict 200 time. Average 100 time x 2 = predicted 200 time (2:06.8 in this case). However, we're in uncharted territory since I assume that you did all of these from a push. If we give 2 seconds as the difference between push and dive start, we predict 2:02.8 to 2:04.8 depending on where we apply the 2-second difference. Encouraging.

For reference, this predictive set was developed by Dick Hamilton as his master's thesis when he was a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University working with Coach Bob Steele in the early 80s. Dick was a good friend and one of my assistant coaches at the Wooster (OH) Swim Club in the mid-70s, and a very good coach in his own right. The test had an r value greater than .80 for his test subjects (college swimmers), which indicates high predictive value, and I have used it with success with swimmers of several different ability levels since then.

Enjoy tomorrow--it's a bit easier.:-)

Cheers,

Coach Bob

Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
